Giving Back

At Real Life Adventure Travel, we feel strongly that we support and give back to the communities that we work in. We currently support the following projects:

  • Chikima Girls Integrated Support and Mitigation Foundation: A Tanzanian NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) provide vocational sewing training and basic business/money handling skills for underprivileged women in Tanzania who are unable to continue their formal education. The training improves business opportunities for young village women by teaching them sewing and business skills so that they can have a way to earn their own living. This helps to increase individual, household and village incomes, thus leading towards self-sufficiency. The sewing school has a store where the products made by the students are sold or donated to needy families in the village. The school also provides school uniforms to the orphans and needy children in the local villages so that these children can attend primary school.

Real Life Adventure Travel donates 20% of its profits to the Foundation.

  • The Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP) is a Tanzanian NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) The Porters Project is an initiative of the International Mountain Explorers Connection, a US based 501(c)3 nonprofit. The focus of the KPAP is to improve the working conditions of the porters on Kilimanjaro by:  lending clothing at no charge to the porters for their climbs, teaching English, First Aid, HIV/AIDS, and Money Management classes to the porters during the low seasons, raising public awareness concerning proper porter treatment.

  • KPAP/IMEC Courier Program: The Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project and IMEC are in need of interested people and companies who are coming to Tanzania who would be willing to act as couriers by transporting donated clothing. These items, donated by manufacturers, ski schools, and individuals, are made available to the porters through the KPAP lending library.
