Adventures for Hope
February 2014, Adventures from around the world will take part in Climbing for Hope, a Mt. Kilimanjaro Climb Challenge. These Adventurers have taken on the challenge to raise awareness and funds for important programs that affect the lives and communities of the Tanzanian People. During the trip, the adventurers will spend several days visiting the projects where the funds will be going.
The funds raised this year through Adventures for Hope will go to support Project Transcend’s Sewing School Project in Mbahe and to pay for the transportation of essential medical supplies and equipment to support Hospitals and Health Centers in Tanzania.
Project Transcend is a California 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to transform the lives of the poor and underprivileged communities in developing countries through facilitating, promoting and financial support of community driven organizations and projects that focus on the environment, education, health and self-sufficiency.

Save a Child’s Heart Climbs New Heights to Save the Lives of Children in Africa
August 2011, Tanzania: In August this year an international team of doctors, supporters and volunteers for Israeli-based Save a Child’s Heart will climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, to raise $1 million to save the lives of 100 children in Africa suffering from heart disease. Climb Your Heart Out: Mount Kilimanjaro 2011 is the largest campaign in the history of Save a Child’s Heart.
While pushing physical and mental boundaries, twenty climbers hope to galvanize worldwide awareness to the Save a Child’s Heart mission: to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer from heart disease and to create centers of competence in these countries.
“We are very excited to launch Climb Your Heart Out: Mount Kilimanjaro 2011,” says Simon Fisher, Executive Director of Save a Child’s Heart and also one of the climbers. “We literally want to shout from the top of a mountain that we at Save a Child’s Heart are committed to the idea that every child deserves the best medical treatment available, regardless of the child’s nationality, religion, color, gender or financial situation.”
Directly prior to the climb, Save a Child’s Heart will hold a surgical and teaching mission at Bugando Medical Center in Mwanza, Tanzania for 8 to 10 local children desperately in need of cardiac care.
Recently, a 9 year-old orphan named Esther made the long journey from Tanzania to Israel for heart surgery. A simple case of untreated strep throat left Esther fighting for her young life. She was brought to Israel by Save a Child’s Heart and after her surgery at Wolfson Medical Center, Esther returned to Tanzania with a renewed opportunity to live a full and healthy life.
With the commitment of their climbers and supporters, Save a Child’s Heart: Mount Kilimanjaro 2011 will save the lives of another 100 children, just like Esther.
About Save a Child’s Heart: Save a Child’s Heart is an Israeli-based international humanitarian project providing hundreds of life-saving heart surgeries and follow-up care a year for children from countries including Africa, Iraq, the West Bank and Gaza.
Since its inception in 1996, the Save a Child’s Heart medical team has provided life-saving open heart surgery for over 2500 children and has examined and evaluated more than 5500 children from 42 countries around the world. A cardiology clinic is held at the Wolfson Medical Center every Tuesday for Palestinian children from Gaza and the West Bank.
